MIDDLO EXPECTS HOLDER BACKLASH

Poole team manager Neil Middleditch is backing world champion Chris Holder to bounce back from his off-night against Wolves in Bydgoszcz.

Poole team manager Neil Middleditch is backing world champion Chris Holder to bounce back from his off-night against Wolves as he prepares for the Motorsportwash.com European SGP in Bydgoszcz on Saturday.

Holder bagged an under-par eight paid nine points from five outings as Poole suffered a shock 48-42 reversal at home to Wolverhampton on Wednesday night.

Hopefully he can bounce back. He will. He has just got a lot on his shoulders, being world champion. Perhaps that’s playing on his mind a little bit.

Chris Holder

The 25-year-old is usually dominant in Dorset, but was passed in a few of his heats and did not find his usual sharpness from the tapes.

Holder was somewhat downbeat after a meeting, which saw both sides hampered by a track which was tough to pass on.

Middleditch questioned whether the Aussie international is feeling the strain of being the world No.1, but he is certain the Sydneysider will get back into top form very soon.

He said: “He’s a little bit down. I don’t know if he’s a little bit off-colour or something, but he’s certainly not himself at the moment.

“Hopefully he can bounce back. He will. He has just got a lot on his shoulders, being world champion. Perhaps that’s playing on his mind a little bit.

“We haven’t had any continuity. We’ve only had a few meetings. Once he gets into his full flow, he’ll have Sweden, Poland and the Grand Prix, so he’ll get back into race mode.”
