LINDGREN: WOLVES ARE BACK

SGP star Freddie Lindgren believes Wolves have regained their bite in the Elite League after he led them to a stunning 48-42 win at Poole.

Grand Prix star Freddie Lindgren believes Wolves have regained their bite in the Elite League after he led them to a stunning 48-42 win at Poole on Wednesday night.

Fast Freddie shone on 12 points as the Monmore Green side downed a team featuring world champion Chris Holder and Darcy Ward.

This will come as a superb boost to the Swedish international as he limbers up for the Motorsportwash.com European SGP in Bydgoszcz on Saturday night.

It’s nice to see Wolverhampton back winning again. We’ve had two really tough seasons. We want to be back at the level we were in 2009 and 2010.

It will also lift the confidence of a Wolves side some pundits wrote off before the start of the season, and they now look set to mount a strong play-off push.

Lindgren said: “I’m amazed. I thought we could go there and get a point because we have been in good form so far this year. Poole ran us really close at Wolverhampton. We beat them by one point.

“We were planning to get a point too, but as the meeting went on, we kept being in front and we were holding it. Even when Poole got into the lead, we were straight back with a 5-1. Then my brother Ludvig sealed it in heat 14.

“I tried everything in the last heat to try and pass Magic and get all four points in heat 15. I made a couple of mistakes, though.

“But it’s nice to see Wolverhampton back winning again. We’ve had two really tough seasons. We want to be back at the level we were in 2009 and 2010 – they were really good for us.”

Lindgren lines up for new Polish Ekstraliga club Leszno when they travel to champions Tarnow this evening. This may be the Orebro-born man’s first competitive meeting in Poland this year, but he has been working hard on the bikes he will also ride in Bydgoszcz.

He said: “We’ve been practising and testing a lot of things. I’m feeling really good and I’ve done everything I can to be as prepared as possible for the European SGP in Bydgoszcz. Hopefully it will work out. I’ve been in Leszno for a couple of days, testing and trying different things.”
