SGP STARS SEEK CHALLENGE SPOTS

SGP winners Martin Vaculik and Piotr Pawlicki step up their bids to secure FIM Speedway Grand Prix spots for 2018 in the qualifying semi-final at Olching this afternoon.

The pair head to Germany, seeking the top-seven position that would book their place in the GP Challenge at Russian race track Togliatti on August 19, where the top three earn SGP places for next season.

The pair are joined in the meeting by in-form Danish riders Leon Madsen, Hans Andersen, Kenneth Bjerre and wild card Mikkel Michelsen.

Ex-SGP regulars Chris Harris, Peter Ljung and Martin Smolinski are also in contention, along with former Torun SGP winner Adrian Miedzinski and Rietumu Bank Latvian SGP wild card Maksims Bogdanovs.

The second semi-final takes place at former Italian SGP track Terenzano on Saturday, featuring World Championship leader Patryk Dudek, and his SGP rival Matej Zagar.

SGP first reserve Peter Kildemand also makes the trip, along with World Under-21 champion Max Fricke, Prague bronze medallist Vaclav Milik, Warsaw wild card Przemyslaw Pawlicki, Russian rocket Grigorii Laguta, former SGP rider Michael Jepsen Jensen and Great Britain skipper Craig Cook.
