World No.3 Bartosz Zmarzlik was named the Polish Ekstraliga’s top home rider at the PGE Ekstraliga Gala in Warsaw on Monday.

The Gorzow racer took the crown with 37.09 percent of the vote, with Maciej Janowski second on 29.06 percent and Jaroslaw Hampel third on 18.47 percent.

It’s a fitting end to a fantastic league season for Zmarzlik, which saw him inspire Gorzow to Ekstraliga bronze, as well as top the averages on an impressive 2.376 figure.

Newly-qualified FIM Speedway Grand Prix star Artem Laguta was named the league’s top foreign rider after earning 35.12 percent of the vote. He saw off stiff competition from Jason Doyle (19.35%), Emil Sayfutdinov (17.64%), Freddie Lindgren (14.52%) and Leon Madsen (13.36%).

NICE Torun SGP winner Patryk Dudek won race of the season, while new World Under-21 champion Maksym Drabik was named junior of the year and Kacper Woryna was handed the surprise of the year award.

New champions Leszno were named team of the year, but runners-up Wroclaw saw their manager Rafal Dobrucki claim the coach of the year prize.

There was also a special award for two-time former world No.2 Jaroslaw Hampel following his impressive comeback with Zielona Gora after two years of injury troubles.
