PAWEL TARGETS REGULAR SGP SPOT

Pawel Przedpelski set his sights firmly on FIM Speedway Grand Prix qualification after starring at the Motoarena last Saturday.

NICE Torun SGP wild card Pawel Przedpelski set his sights firmly on FIM Speedway Grand Prix qualification after starring at the Motoarena last Saturday.

The local hero electrified his home crowd with a charge to the semi-finals, only missing out on his first SGP final after an epic battle for second with Bartosz Zmarzlik in semi-final two.

Przedpelski would love a more regular taste of World Championship action, but admits even getting out of the Polish qualifying competition for the series takes an impressive effort.

Everybody wants to race in the best competition in the world. It’s my dream and my goal for the future.

That won’t deter him, though. He said: “I will fight for the GP because it’s my goal. In Torun, maybe I showed I am ready.

“The elimination competition here in Poland is hard – to get into the international rounds and then the Challenge. But I will fight and I have a new season next year, so I’ll just race.

“Everybody wants to race in the best competition in the world. It’s my dream and my goal for the future.”

Przedpelski was delighted to star in Torun. He said: “I was so happy to be the wild card at my home track in my city. The semi-final is a good result, but I was so close to the final – my dream final. But a semi is good.

“There were many people from Torun here. Everyone wants to see the Polish guys and they really wanted us to have a good race.

“I feel so happy. In every heat, I heard everything, all the fans cheering, even through my helmet. It was really good.”

Having come so close to the final, Przedpelski was understandably a little disappointed to fall just short.

He said: “It was so close. On one corner, Zmarzlik passed me. The GPs are different to everything else. One mistake and two guys are in front of you. You need to be focused and race hard.”
