JACK SET FOR SOMERSET

Aussie international Jack Holder is finally on his way to Somerset – three years after Rebels’ bid to sign him collapsed.

Aussie international Jack Holder is finally on his way to Somerset – three years after Rebels’ bid to sign him collapsed.

Holder joins Richard Lawson in the side after making the move from near neighbours Poole.

He joins on a 5.82 average, which could prove an absolute steal, especially after the promise he showed against the sport’s top stars in his Polish Ekstraliga debut season with Torun.

The former Aussie Under-21 champion was due to line up for Somerset in 2015, but the move broke down due to a dispute over his starting average, which forced Holder to make his British debut with Plymouth.

Rebels boss Garry May is delighted to have finally been able to bring Holder to Highbridge for their second SGB Premiership season.

He told the club’s official website: “It might be some three seasons later than planned, but we have finally got our man!

“Jack has made excellent progress since first coming to these shores and has always shown a liking for riding at the Oaktree Arena whenever he has ridden against Somerset in the past, and I am convinced that he will prove to be a valuable addition to our 2018 septet.”
