Triple world champion Nicki Pedersen is set to race in the German Bundesliga next year after signing a contract with Wittstock.

The Dane admitted he would be seeking new challenges for 2019 after missing out on an FIM Speedway Grand Prix wild card.

And after a host of test sessions on the Wittstock track, he will now represent the team in league competition.

Posting on Facebook, Pedersen said: “It has always been a pleasure and great fun to race in Germany.

“Throughout many years I had a close connection with MSC Wittstock. I have been testing my bikes at the great track in Wittstock and always felt very welcome. Now it’s time for me to help Wölfe Wittstock in the Bundesliga.”

Pedersen’s arrival represents a huge coup for Germany’s top flight as speedway goes from strength to strength in the country.
